Community Foundations Making Positive Impact

With nearly two years of organizing, planning and initiating positive change in rural Iowa the Iowa Community Affiliate Network (Iowa C.A.N.) reports numerous positive impacts for local communities and their development efforts. Iowa C.A.N. is a collaboration of 30 county and community foundations from across Iowa. They come together to learn and share ideas to help grow and strengthen local philanthropic initiatives.  Over $7.5 million dollars has been granted among the Iowa C.A.N. affiliates for community betterment projects and over $2.5 million have been added to permanent endowment funds for these counties.

The local impact has been significant with improved health care initiatives, efforts in education, main street improvements and various other projects.  Iowa Area Development Group Community Foundation (IADGCF) is a not for profit foundation for the betterment of rural Iowa.

Iowa C.A.N. Represents Thirty Iowa Counties

Iowa Area Development Group Community Foundation is pleased to have 30 counties from across Iowa part of the Iowa Community Affiliate Network.

The Iowa General Assembly passed legislation allowing nearly one percent of state gaming revenues to be shared among counties without gaming facilities.  This legislation has spurred a wave of community interest and philanthropic awareness.

Rand Fisher, President of IADG and IADGCF commented, “This is truly a “grass-roots” effort and local leadership within each county is springing forward to engage their communities in philanthropic efforts.  Every county is in control of their own destiny and our Iowa philanthropy journey is off to a tremendous start.”

The following county groups are working with IADGCF and Iowa C.A.N.:
