Shane Tiernan is currently Director of Lending for GNB Bank headquartered in Grundy Center. Shane has been involved in rural community and economic development projects for nearly 40 years. He was a founding member of the Conrad Chamber Main Street program, the first self-initiated Rural Main Street program in Iowa and the first official Main Street community allowed into the program taking a community wide vs. strictly downtown approach. He has made presentations on rural economic development and provided strategic planning assistance to other rural communities in Iowa as well as Main Street Iowa, Main Street America and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines.
Over the last several years he has been involved in five different residential development projects, led the effort to build a new childcare and pre-school facility, retain and build a new grocery store, recruited new and retain industrial development in Conrad. He testified before a U.S. Senate Finance Committee field hearing addressing the out-migration of rural regions in Iowa. He served as a member and past president of the BCLUW school board, is past president and treasurer for Conrad Chamber Main Street, member of the Grundy County REC revolving loan fund review committee, past president, treasurer and is a current member of the board of directors for Heart of Iowa Communications Cooperative, and more. He is the recipient of three Governor’s Volunteer Awards and has been recognized by USDA Rural Development for his work in rural community development projects.

Pete Evans AIA IDSA is an assistant professor in the Industrial Design department at Iowa State University with over 25 years of industry experience. Pete’s teaching, scholarship and research involve mixed reality (VR and AR) simulation, prototyping, design and communication; impacts of 21st-century skills on K-16 students and workforce; UXUI, HCI and human centered design; phenomenology and perceptual cognition. He also founded and coordinates the FLEx (Forward Learning Experience) - a mobile design & STEM outreach program that has reached over 80,000 Iowa students and citizens since 2014.
