The Wilton Steel Mill, which was acquired in 2004 by Gerdau Ameristeel, employs 241 people. Its products are used in civil construction and consumer product markets. The mill, which is the second largest mini-mill steel producer in North America, has the capacity to produce 320,000 tons of steel a year.  

Gerdau is the leading producer of long steel in the Americas and one of the largest recyclers of ferrous scrap in North America.
