Thurston Manufacturing Company purchased Simonson Iron Works in 2013. Thurston Manufacturing Company, incorporated in 1971, designs, manufactures and markets Blu-Jet fertilizer injection and tillage equipment, and Circle R side dump semi-trailers in Thurston, Nebraska. Simonsen Iron Works had long manufactured Cycle Country brand of accessories mounted on quad bike all-terrain vehicles, before being sold off in 2012. After a brief closure of the plant, Thurston Manufacturing purchased the plant and was able to rehire all 32 employees at the Spencer, Iowa plant.
