West Liberty Foods employs nearly 1,000 people in the West Liberty operation and has expanded operations to include a meat processing plant in Sigourney and a slicing facility in Mount Pleasant.  West Liberty Foods has greatly improved the turkey industry in Iowa.  Through its brief history the new company, which is cooperatively owned by Iowa turkey growers, has turned a declining industry into a thriving business venture.  West Liberty Foods not only processes 3 million pounds of turkey weekly it has diversified into processing an additional 600,000 pounds of raw pork, beef, and chicken each week reaching beyond the turkey industry and into other food markets.  

West Liberty Foods is a leading supplier of meat products to the Subway Corporation and became a leading vendor for Subway in 2007.
